Emily Armstrong is an Intern at Beachside Recovery Center for Trauma + Anxiety. She is originally from North Carolina, and her husband is in the Air Force. She is currently pursuing her Masters in Social Work degree at the University of Kentucky - Online. Her concentration is in Veteran and Military Behavioral Health. She received her Bachelors in Social Work, Summa cum Laude, from Appalachian State University in 2021. Prior to Appalachian State University, Emily received her Associate in Arts Degree from Blue Ridge Community College in 2019.


She is driven to assist those in need due to being a patient at Shriners Hospital for Children for seven years after being diagnosed with Scoliosis. She thanks the staff there every day for their continued service to those in need. 


Post-bachelors, Emily became a certified QPR Pathfinder. She volunteered as an Outreach Coordinator for an elderly organization, assisting with various objectives such as social media, volunteer recruitment, orienting other organizations to services, and writing on various cultures, among other objectives. She later became a Group Leader at an assisted luxury living and memory care location. She assisted with leading activities, socializing with the elderly, encouraging holistic wellness, leading cultural talks, and more. Emily continues to visit and write to them.


As a Graduate Student, Emily was a Group Leader at an elementary school. She watched over the children, dissipated issues with empathy, encouraged communication from the children, kept parents up-to-date, and more. 


With her career thus far, Emily has developed a great love for the elderly population, who are her inspiration for advancing her education. She continues cultural research, therapeutic research, and general knowledge advancements in her degree area. She enjoys music, reading, and art.
